Why We Give! 

Target is committed to furthering educational opportunities for families throughout the country. As a cornerstone of our giving program, Target educational programs reach children of all ages, with the focus on local schools and early childhood reading. Many residents in Miami-Dade County already support their public schools through the Target Take Charge of Education® program, in which community members designate an eligible K-12 school of their choice and have Target donate an amount equal to one percent of their REDcard purchases made at Target and Target.com.  When Target heard about the Miami-Dade school district’s smart effort to improve academic performance at nine struggling schools, the company helped by underwriting some of the program’s implementation costs.  The effort includes Saturday tutoring sessions in core subjects for the lowest-performing students at these schools. All in all, more than 2,500 students took part—amazing for a Saturday education program. Target was glad to participate and wishes these students well on their way to improved academic performance.  We applaud Miami-Dade County Public Schools in its efforts to improve academic achievement for all students.
