Why We Give! 

To study and to play, children of all ages need good health, and their parents need to know how to maintain it.  At Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, we recognize the importance of preventative health care even in our youngest children.  Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ Parent Academy encourages parents to become partners in their children’s education and their overall well-being.  The Parent Academy’s outreach to parents is immense, drawing more than 150,000 parents to participate in family learning activities.  Many of those activities and workshops have been about the importance of proper nutrition and sleep to a child’s academic success. Representatives from several school districts have visited Miami-Dade County Public Schools to replicate The Parent Academy in their communities. The Parent Academy and Blue Cross and Blue Shield are healthy partners pursuing and enhancing better learning and living.
